I learned what comforts me when I can’t decide on anything to knit. A Buddha Bowl.
Can I just tell you, I love my Buddha bowl. I first saw this bowl on a blog (I can’t remember whose but thank you) and I kept the page as a bookmark. Someday I thought, I will buy one. Well that someday came. My bowl doesn’t completely fill the void left by the lack of knitting inspiration–but it helps.
I do realize I can only eat so many bowls of cereal though. At some point I am sure I will get excited about something else. So…since it is inevitable, I am preparing for that day now.
Here is what is coming up on the knitting front:
- Cherry is blocking now. I finished knitting the pieces ages ago, just lost motivation to seam it when winter descended. But now that spring is here I think it is time for Cherry to see the light.
- There are some new patterns I have seen previews of from a couple upcoming spring books and magazines. As soon as the patterns are released I will have to make some decisions about what I want to do but I am excited for the options to come.
- As my mind is turning to my upcoming trip to the UK, I have been thinking about my fav Brit knitwear designer Kim Hargreaves. I am contemplating buying Rosa. Or maybe Flo. I think I can rock the ruffles. But the question is, short sleeves or the quarter-length cardi? What do you all think?
That bowl is awesome! Totally perfect for a giant bowl of soup or cereal. Or even coffee, Paris-stylee!
Out of those two designs, I think that I prefer Flo. It’s also probably more wearable. Kim Hargreaves designs are so, so lovely though and both of those would be just gorgeous.
I’m thinking Rosa. You have lovely thin arms and can definitely rock the ruffles. Love the bowl.
Rosa! The ruffles are gorgeous.
I don’t think I could be any less helpful by saying that I like both! But I do!
my vote is with flo. love Love LOVE it!
I vote Flo. It still has that lovely vintage quality, but looks just a bit more contemporary. And I really love the gathered sleeves.
Rose. Definitely. It’s you.
Ugh! I meant Rosa. *sigh*
Ooh, I love that bowl!! Where did you get it?
i’ve seen a few people knit rosa on ravelry, and really liked the finished products. i think the three-quarter length sleeves might compete with the ruffles, especially since they’re kind of that blouson (aka, puffy) style.
Dang, I need one of those bowls.
My vote is for Rosa. Looks just like something I saw at GAP the other day and wanted, but couldn’t have because nothing fits me properly right now.
I would go with Rosa if it were me ~but I would never tackle anything that challenging, I don’t know how I fee about your arms in Flo ~sorry.
I would go for Rosa since you like a more fitted look. I think Flo has a real modern look to it though that I dig as well.
Hey I have a bowl just like that!!! In the same color too!! Hey did you steal my bowl :O)
Just kidding, love mine. I drink coffee in it and anything else I can find. Love it!!
Hope the knitting inspiration comes back soon.
SOOOOO COOL!
Flo. I love it. That knit was made for you. I would NOT do the short sleeves shown…but perhaps a little longer short sleeve–above the elbow? Or the 3/4 sleeve. You have such impeccable taste, I am sure that you will make the right decision–and it is true, you do have the arms to show the short sleeves. What color are you thinking of? I am completely amazed that you are not cowed by a sweater that challenging. What a gift you have!
Thanks for the new blog post…it was so worth the wait!
Oops! I meant Rosa is the one you should make! I was thinking Rosa and wrote Flo….
Rosa! If I could “Rosa” I would! If you can I think you should!
It seems most are voting for Rosa, but I am seriously in love with Flo. It’s so modern, yet girly. Love.
Um, first, I want the bowl.
second, JUST KNIT! I don’t care what…I just need to know you are working on some amazing new creation!!
The bowl is fabulous, I will have to look out for some here. Hang on with your Kim Hargreaves buy as she is bringing out a summer book, there will be some lovely designs I am sure. Then you can get the book and a kit!!
What would work best for the climate you have? Is there one you could wear more often?
Am curious about the new patterns you’ve seen and are tempting us with!
Tough choice. I personally would knit the three quarter sleeves because that is what I would wear more. I rarely wear short sleeves.
Loving that bowl! Both of the Hargreaves designs are beautiful! I am with the previous commenter on 3/4-length sleeves 🙂
LOVE love love Rosa!
‘Just saw the latest Summer Knit Gallery – EVERYTHING looks good on you! I see the mag and I pretty much dismiss most of them for myself then I see things on you in the Galleries and I start to think differently! Thanks for the inspiration!
Hmm, this is a toughie- they are both beautiful, and I can see you wearing both. Helpful, right? Either way, I’m partial to 3/4 sleeves, too, or even sleeves that hit just shy of the elbow. Can’t wait to see which one you choose!
I’m a little late to the party, but I vote Rosa. Just gorgeous, babe.
Personally, I’d skip the ruffles, but then, I’m not a ruffles kind of girl.
I love the buddha bowl! I’ve never seen one of those before.
oooh, I do love your buddha bowl! Such a lovely shade of green. When your sick of cereal you could always try ice-cream!
If anyone could rock the ruffles it would be you! I vote for Rosa with quarter length sleeves. I don’t know why but I think the sleeves need to be just a bit longer.
