I’m back! And I have a little treat for you. (Well, really it is a treat for me, but let’s not bother ourselves with technicalities.)
I finished my Little Birds Pullover:
For those of you that haven’t been following my Little Birds adventures, first, where have you been? and second, here is a brief recap. I fell in love with Ysloda’s Little Birds pattern the minute I set eyes on the first issue of the Twist Collective. The only hesitation I had with the sweater was the cut of the cardigan. While I love the way it looks on the model, I was fairly certain that it would not be a flattering look on my more curvy self. But the birds! I couldn’t get those birds out of my head. I loved them. So I set about to make a Pullover version using Ysloda’s pattern as my start.
I quickly decided on two features I wanted, scoop neck and elbow sleeves. With a bit of help from Eunny’s Autumn Rose Cardigan pattern for the scoop and my own wrangling of sizing and style for the rest I was able to work up my version of Little Birds.
Tweet, Tweet.
So what can I say? I really really love it. Normally I am highly critical of my finished knits. I am rarely pleased when I try something on–particularly for the first time. Often I talk myself into liking something once I get over my preconceived notion of what I wanted it to look like. Not so with Little Birds. The minute I put it on I smiled. I might have even done a little dance. I was just so nervous it wasn’t going to work out–that my patchwork pattern was not going to look right. But it did, and in the process I learned a LOT about sweater design and fit.
Lots of Little Birds.
Of course, there is one thing. (Isn’t there always?) Were I to do it again, I would make the scoop a little less wide and deep. It would be nice to not have to wear something underneath. But that is really just nit-picky.
Stats:
Pattern: Little Birds (My own pullover version) rav link here
Source: Twist Collective
Needles: US 1 & 2 Addi-Turbos
Yarn: Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift
Mods: Made into a pullover, made longer by adding a couple repeats of the birds, elbow sleeves…in other words, lots and lots.
So there you go. A Little Birds Pullover. Excuse me now while I go skip in the park and smell wildflowers.
