So what is the last thing you want to hear one morning as you are getting ready in the bathroom, just one week after you move in to your newly purchased home? That would be a loud crash followed by glass shattering.
Yeah.
I walked into my craft room and there on the floor was the glass light fixture in many, many pieces on the floor.

My light fixture after plummeting to its death.
I have decided to see this as an opportunity. I didn’t really like the light fixture and was thinking down the road I would replace it anyway. I wasn’t wanting to spend the money now but now that I have to, it is fun to think about all the possibilities of what I could do.
Speaking of the craft room, want to see how the color turned out?

I LOVE it. It is called Vintage Yellow by Glidden and it turned out perfectly. It is bright and cheery without being either too pastel or overpowering. I really do feel more creative every time I walk in the room. Now on to the putting away, organizing, and decorating. I have great plans for this room…
Oh no! Certainly not what you might have *wanted* to have happen, but it does present an opportunity to make the room exactly what you want it to be. And those walls are a wonderful start…I’m so jealous!
That yellow begs to have piles of yarn in front of it!
That is a lovely shade of yellow. I’ve been lobbying my partner for a craft room and might just have to insist on yellow walls..
Finding the exact perfect shade of yellow can be hard, but it looks like you found just the right one!
Yellow just makes a girl feel crafty. And oh what fun we are having finding a new light.
Rats! But picking out light fixtures is fu-un!
Maybe it’s a blessing in another way, too. It could be a good time to see how everything’s attached up there. We replaced an eyesore of a ceiling fan, and the electrician said it was attached to sheetrock only and was basically being held on by the wiring, and probably had been for 20 years. Why would anyone do that? So we felt virtuous as well as stylish by replacing it.
At least it wasn’t a window. Love the yellow.
careful what you wish for! I love the color of the room, can’t wait to see what inspiration comes out of it!
I would just like to (happily) point out, for the record, that none of my children were anywhere near that light fixture when it met its untimely demise.
Although it does occur to me we could have knocked something loose on Sunday . . . anyway, let us know if we can lend any power tools!
My first thought… “Oh no.. did I mess with that light?” (but it is the light in my own kitchen I remembered changing, not yours… but for a few moments, I was quite worried.)
And still.. I really like the yellow. It looks fabulous!
I love that yellow. I am glad you weren’t under the light fitting when it died!
You have a craft room? I’m so jealous! Love the colour – it sounds like you were maybe ‘meant’ to get a new light for it all along…
I’d like to think that lamp wanted to be replaced and just went ahead and did it for you
Beautiful yellow, so cheery!
Hmmm….I wouldn’t mind if some of our light fixtures took one for the team. Any excuse to re-decorate is a good excuse, right?
You are right, that yellow is AWESOME. Not annoying, and it looks like it will go with almost anything. Great job!
And too bad about the light fixture. Glad you weren’t standing under it
I have been longing for that color (in a house we don’t even have). The Glidden paint swatch book is a favorite around our house!
I love that vintage yellow so much! It’s perfect!
i do love that vintage yellow. fun, i tell you.
oooph! Just imagine how scary it woulda been if you where in the room when it happened! Have fun picking out a new light fixture. And I LOVE the color that you picked for your craft room. Its very inspiring!
I love that color! And definitely a sign you need a new light fixture.
BUMMER about the light fixture but sometimes these things happen for a reason. on a positive note I love that room color!
So glad you were not standing underneath it when it happened!!! Hopefully you will now be able to find something you love that will make your place feel more like home. We have a ton of ugly light fixtures here and they make the house feel like someone else’s, not ours.
Your yellow is so cheery and perfect for the dreary winter days that we’ll be having soon!
Well, I LOVE the pics of your place! Also, great color for the craft room. Well done on the light falling out of the sky
. I can’t wait to see it in person!
That is exactly the paint color I have been searching for!
