Note: Sorry for the unexpected blog break. I have been without internet at my home for about 10 days and it is slowly killing me. How did we survive before the internets? I am hoping to have internet back up and running very soon when more normal blogging and internet activity can return.
I think my last post was my most favorite ever. Not because of anything I wrote but because of your comments. Turns out, I love reading about things people are thankful for. Who knew? Thank you, thank you for commenting and reminding me about the really great and simple things in life.
So the giveaway contest…you wondering who won? Based on a random number generator, the winner is Lin from Queen of the Froggers! Lin is from the UK which is obviously reason number one why I like her but she is also a talented multi-crafter whose style I love. I don’t remember when I first was introduced to her blog but I have been following her for a while now. So Lin, look in your inbox for an email from me and please send me your address. It might take me another week but I will have something in the mail to you very soon. Thanks for being such a great blog reader!
As for my crafty pursuits I have been a bit all over the place lately. Lots of inspiration abounds and I am drawn to all kinds of projects but am not sure what direction to go in. I have been fairly busy in my non-crafty life lately and so have pretty limited time for projects and yet I am still feeling the desire to create. I have committed myself to a few handmade Christmas presents that I am super excited about and think I will be able to get done in time. I am dying to share these with you but will restrain myself. Sorry.
I am also drooling over the latest issue of the Twist Collective. Specifically those two cable-ly beauties Sylvi and Vivian. It is a big debate in my head over which one I should make. So maybe you guys can help me.
Sylvi vs. Vivian. If I could only make one, which should I make?
vivian, obviously!!!
i am also coveting this pattern.
That is one tough question. You’ll wear Vivian forever, but Sylvi will be the knit of a lifetime. Do both!!
Ooh, that’s a toughie! I loooove them both. Sylvi seems like nothing you’d find in a store, so many that one.
Oooh, I definitely vote Sylvi, even if just for the uniqueness factor. Your sweaters always turn out so great, and I’d LOVE to see someone actually pull off that sweater!
Those are my favorite patterns as well. I’m totally obsessed with Sylvi though, so depending on how the rest of my current projects and Christmas projects go, I may be casting on for that soon!…or at least I hope I can!
I often have a differing vote from your crafty readers, but I’ll put my 2 cents in anyway. Vivian is nice, but when I saw Sylvi I went, “Ohhhh.” It’s so beautiful and unique!
Sylvi, for two reasons. One, while Vivian is lovely, there are a million cabled cardis out there; Sylvi is one-of-a-kind. Two, while they’re both chunky, there’s a big difference between a chunky coat and a chunky cardigan in, ahem, how “chunky” it makes the wearer look!
Overall, Sylvi’s a project that will make people stop you in the street and ask about it. Vivian is a cardigan.
Sylvi — she would look *AWESOME* on someone with your height.
Oh for sure Sylvi. So original. You must do it in a bright color and come and visit me so I can see it on you. I was beginning to wonder where you’d gone. I miss you terribly.
Ah, you’ve got the same problem I’ve got- Sylvi or Vivian? But I KNOW I’m going to make Vivian, I love how it’s an aran with a flattering silhouette.
I vote Vivian….a purely selfish reason – I want to knit this one, and your sweaters always inspire me!
The new Twist Collective is very cool. I am glad to have another fresh source of patterns. My favorite from this issue is Vaila.
I like the Sylvi, and for the record, if you knit that I will build a statue in your honor. That would be AMAZING.
Sylvi, Sylvi, Silvi.
On behalf of all of us who pretend to be knitters PLEASE do sylvi.
Why choose? Hee hee! If I have to, I vote Sylvi too. The pics on Ravelry look so tempting! You would look amazing in that, and then you wouldn’t have to make a decision about what to knit next for a long, long time.
I would knit Sylvi as it is something different and would be so snuggly. You are tall aren’t you? It would look great on you. (thank you for me being picked by the number thingy!!x)
It’ll be Vivian for me – I’d love to see your version!
Congrats to Lin! I think you could probably whip out both sweaters in no time!
Honestly, I think that Vivian is more you…
Sylvi is absolutely stunning! But I can also totally see you in Vivian. Sorry, not much help, huh?
I hope your internet is back up soon!
Gotta go with Sylvi first. Truly amazing.
Sylvi is my favourite of the two – more wow factor
Vivan, I think she is more my style & I would wear her more, and she reminds me of Ruby by Debbie Bliss which I am working on now.
Vivian. Or, Rebecca, or Mary Jane!
Hmm, I would make Vivian, because I would wear her more, but you could get away with Sylvi, and she is definitely more striking!
Sylvi would be amazing, no doubt about it. But if you need to knit something you can finish quickly, for a more instant gratification, I’d go with Vivian.
I enjoyed your list in the last post — thanks for making me smile.
tough choice.. i vote vivian, its so sleek for a cabled sweater. both are cute though!
I quite like vivian! Your last post was a good one, it is nice to hear the things other people are grateful for!
