Heh heh, get it? I am in Canada? I used “eh?” in my title. Funny stuff. I really do have an FO people! And on vacation even. Here it is in all it’s glory…presenting, the cool hemp ponchette:
I love it. This was the perfect hanging out and talking to people while knitting project. Very easy but with a great payoff. The hemp is awesome, warm and cool at the same time. I finished the ponchette Wednesday, blocked it at my grandma’s yesterday, and wore it today. It is fun to finish a project on holiday.

Here are the stats…
Pattern: Cool Hemp Ponchette
Source: LanaKnit Designs
Yarn: allhemp6, avocado, 3 skeins
Size: Small/Medium…sort of (see mods¬es)
Mods: I accidentally added two garter stitch rows to each repeat. I didn’t realize it until I was about 4 repeats in and decided it looked fine and just kept going. The pattern says to knit 25 total repeats but I knit 24.
Notes: I would probably make it a little smaller. As it is now it is a bit large and if it stretches at all then it will be way too big. I may unravel one or two repeats and reseam but I am waiting to see how much it expands. I really enjoyed working with hemp as it was an interesting fiber to work with and I love the way it drapes after a good blocking.
I was inspired to knit this after seeing Knit and Tonic’s finished one. I really, really tried to pick a different color then she did but I couldn’t help it, the avocado was my favorite. So just call me a copycat–I am fine with it.
Now onto my trip…The trip has been lots of fun so far. Taber is a smaller town then I am used to but it is fun to be with family. Lots of driving has resulted in lots of knitting time which has been great and the Super 8 we are staying at has wireless which means I can blog. Yeah!
Taber is the corn capitol of Canada but we are too early for corn season so that is a bummer. Although I am not starving on this trip…oh no, don’t you worry about me, I am getting plenty to eat. OR, maybe you should worry. I think I need to start. If only I could wake up and remember that I went to bed with a commitment to not eat so much.
We spent the day today in beautiful Waterton, Alberta. My Mom spent two summers working at the big hotel there when she was in college and it was fun to visit her old and beautiful haunting ground. Really more than anything, it is just fun to be together. I figure the times are limited when my whole family can go on a vacation all together so I am trying to remember that and really enjoy our time. I love my family.
I did buy some new yarn at a nice knitting store in Lethbridge that was in the most depressing mall I have ever been in. I will post pictures of my new acquisitions soon. Nothing like new yarn, eh? (get it…I used “eh” again. hahaha…I am way too funny!)

The ponchette is so cute!
The ponchette looks great! And what a great setting to model a FO.
Glad to hear that you’re having a great vacation (including yarn acquisition).
It looks great and should be something you’ll wear often. Sounds like you’re having a grand time, too!
I love the way this turned out with the straight back and the V front it is a really great take on the old poncho look and well the color is just too lovely
i *love the ponchette! and how could you make it in any other colour besides the avocado, it’s gorgeous! sounds like you are having fun on your trip, eating (bring it on!) and spending time with family. can’t wait to see the new yarn. x
Lovely ponchette! Sounds like you are having a great time : )
what a beautiful ponchette ~ and the green is such a lovely color. I haven’t worked with hemp (yet) but friends have told me that the drape and softness improve with each time you wear it. Thanks for the links – I just might have to make this one!
I just got back from a week with my extended family. It is both wonderful and challenging all at once.
LOVE the ponchette…I really need to learn to knit. Cause I’m so jealous of how dang cute your ponchette is! Seriously.. maybe I’m gonna have to trade for a quilt… ENJOY the vacation… give Kara a big smoochie for me.
Love the ponchette, seriously so cute!
