I am so busy. In fact, I am too busy to write this post but I am doing it anyway. Tonight I hosted a surprise party for a great friend of mine’s 40th birthday in my back yard. It was a lot of work but it was totally worth it. She was surprised and happy and I think everyone had a good time. This friend of mine, DeAnn, is a special woman. She is one of those people that everyone loves because of how wonderful she makes you feel. I hope she felt how loved she is through all the people that came to celebrate her life so far.
The girls I threw the party with are a special group of friends–we all met working in the same company years ago and have stayed active parts of each other’s lives. I love my girls…
Happy Birthday DeAnn (third from the left in the yellow)!
I have to send a big thank you to knitter, seamstress, and all around cool lady Necia who sent me this in the mail last week:
Isn’t that fun??!!? Handmade soap and shower scrub. They all smell so amazing! I won this gift by leaving a comment on her blog when she requested knitting confessions. Mine was that I don’t know the difference between sport and dk weights. Still don’t. Are you embarrassed for me?
Thank you so much Necia for the splendid treat. I love, love, love it.
Tomorrow I leave with my Dad and two sisters on a road trip to Taber, Alberta Canada. Taber is a small town that perhaps you most likely have not heard of but it is a special town to me as my Mom was raised there and my grandparents call it home. My Mom and brother and his family all left last week and tomorrow we depart to meet them there for a family reunion of sorts. I really need to stop typing and start packing, especially my knitting projects. Hmmm…what to bring??? I am thinking I need to finish the ponchette, start my second hedera scarf, and get some inches done on the somewhat cowl. I am praying I am able to knit in the car. A total of 24 hours of knitting time if I can just handle the motion sickness.
Wish me luck!

I know I’m a bit late, but I’m just in awe of your rambling rose! I’ll try to finish my soon. I think it will be too big for me, but it’s my sister’s 30′th birthday in August, so I’ve decided that it will be the perfect gift for her! Anyway, yours looked really good on you and seemed to be the perfect shape! Congrats!
have fun at your family get together! wow, all those ‘free’ hours. hope you can get some knitting in. surprises are always so nice. im sure your friend had a lovely time and really appreciated the effort and the thought. x
This will solve all your “weighty” problems, haha *snicker* *snort*

This shows weights, wraps per inch for each of the weights and even yards per pound in wool or similar fiber (cotton and acrylic weight differently than wool). This is the e-bay yarn buyer’s DREAM.
Glad you received it well Erin. I forgot to tell you, to please please unwrap the soaps from their tissue paper, because of the high vegetable oil content, and the heat, they will sweat like a mofo. Just unwrap, wipe with a hand towel and you can store anywhere as long as they breathe. If you throw them in your linen closet, they will smell up your towels while they wait for you to use them. Enjoy.

Sounds like a fun night. Me? I’m a terrible terrible party-planner, so I am grateful for people like you who can get things together.
Have fun with your family. I have a reunion next week too, but I’m going the opposite direction, to AZ. Right now I’m a bit jealous that your relatives are to the north.
Get yourself some sea-bands at the pharmacy! They are little knitted wristlets with a plastic bump that presses on some pressure point that supposedly helps with motion sickness. Thanks to them, I can knit while ridding in the car now!
Hope you have a great trip, and sounds like you throw a good party! : )
